Derwent Walk

This is one of 4 remaining bridges left on the Derwent Walk. This particular one is near the Lockhaugh area of Rowlands Gill. Starting from Blaydon Rugby Club at Swalwell, this is the 1st of the 4 bridges you would come to. For many years the Derwent walk was the site of the old Consett to Dunston railway line.Which was used to bring coal to Consett and steel down to the Tyne for transportation around the world.
